b) Typewriters, (some electric for non-sensitive work) will be provided by all Posts on the Itinerary.

Common-user stationery will be provided in all offices by Missions. If special stationery is required, items should be brought out by secretarial assistants.

19.

MEDICAL

Members of the Delegation are reminded that payment for medical or dental treatment will only be met from public funds provided that a certificate of necessity, to be obtained from the Conference Officer, is attached to the receipted bill; the Conference Officer will arrange for completion and signature; the usual National Health Service charges will be deducted from the claims.

20. FINANCE

a)

Costs will be borne by Parent Departments and common service costs by the DSC Subhead C32(e) Vote 11846. Press will be responsible for their own costs.

b)

Subsistence

Where members of une Delegation are guests of the host Governement ie in China, they will receive one tenth of the Class A rate per night Lady Carrington will receive 3/4 of the amount paid to Lord Carrington.

ii) Where members of the Delegation are accommodated by Embassy staff or the Government, they will receive one third of the appropriate rate of subsistence per night.

iii) Where Conference lerms are applicable, the Embassy will pay for the Hotel bill (including continental breakfast, service, and tax) and the member of the Delegation will then be issued with half of the Class A rate and will be expected to pay from this all other expenses.

c) Those wishing to do any personal shopping in any Post being visited are advised to have travellers' cheques with them.

a) Exchange rates are given at Appendix IV.

21 ADMINISTRATION

a)

Miss P 1 Metcalfe, Conference and Visits Section, FCO, will travel to Peking in advance of the official party and administer the visit to China from there. Miss Metcalfe will leave London on approximately 23 September. She will visit Hong Kong to offer assistance en route to Peking.
