All those travelling by RAF VC10 should see that their suitcases are unlocked at RAF Brize Norton for the customary security check, please. This will apply to all departures en route, including the departure from New York.
a)
Butane gas lighter refills and matches other than safety ones may not be taken in the RAF aircraft - certain aerosol sprays, eg hairspray, toiletries and shaving cream are now accepted on RAF flights, provided that they are not used on the aircraft. Any electrical items must be
disconnected from their batteries.
6. PERSONAL BAGGAGE LABELS
a)
Plain baggage labels are enclosed for those travelling; they are as follows:

All items to be cabin loaded must in addition bear a plain yellow label.

a) Baggage
The insurance of baggage at the expense of HMG is not permissible. the case of loss of personal baggage while travelling or while in receipt of subsistence allowance, claims may be submitted up to a maximum of £200 (no one article to exceed £50) provided that the loss is not covered by an existing policy.

Those travelling on the RAF VC10 are advised to check whether their personal insurance policies provide cover for travel by non-commercial flights and to consult their insurers if they are in any doubt about their position. At present, claims on HMG for compensation are subject to a liability limit of £25,000.

LIVING ACCOMMODATION
a) Details for each post where known are shown at Appendix IV.

At all posts a suite has been reserved for the Head of News Department for his official Press Briefings. Where possible members of the Press have been booked into the same Hotel.
9. WORKING ACCOMMODATION
A Private Office is being established in all residences at which the Secretary of State is staying. A Private Office will also be established in the Guest House in China. All Missions have also been asked to provide two or three offices for use during the day as either Private Offices or for use by other members of the Delegation.
