Civil Service 1946. Previously served as Director of Commerce and
Industry, Chairman of the Trade Development Council and Information
Secretary. Retired from the Civil Service 1974. Headed the Independ-
ent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) 1974-78.
MAJOR-GENERAL JOHN L CHAPPLE CBE
Commander British Forces, Hong Kong, since June 1980. Born 1931. Has
served over the last 20 years in Hong Kong, Malaya, Borneo and Singapore.
