The Governor welcomed the members of the Mission to the meeting saying he felt that their visit had been exceptionally successful. He was sure that they would have felt the goodwill towards them from businessmen they had met in Hong Kong. This stemmed from not only self-interest but also an awareness of the need for good bilateral relations heightened by the developing commercial links with China. It was important that Britain be seen to perform well in Hong Kong as this would directly affect Britain's performance in China. He invited the Minister to give his impressions of the visit and to advise if there were any ways in which HKG could facilitate trade development.
