Your visit to the Far East was most helpful for our
efforts to develop our overall and particularly
trading

relations with Korea, Hong Kong and Japan.
As for the nature of these relations I agree with your
main impressions. South Korea offers considerable potential for British industry and we must endeavour
to increase Ministerial contacts. Hong Kong

Japan is important to us politically as well as economically We must therefore seeka broader relationship while
"trying to overcome the difficulties which she presents
as a trading partner. I am sure that you are right when you say that the future of our economic relations
with Japan lies in the scope for industrial cooperation.
