Sir Y K Kan is a former Senior Unofficial Member of the Legislative
Council and until recently Senior Unofficial Member of the Executive
Council.
He is Chairman of the Bank of East Asia.
Note:
In September 1979 he launched an initiative for increasing
UK exports to Hong Kong when he led an HKTDC mission to this
country. The initiative involved concentration on branded
goods and the idea that Hong Kong be used as a base for
selling into the region either directly or by manufacturing
under licence. The response of British industry has been
pretty sceptical.
