DRIER ON TUEN MUN LIGHT RAILWAY
1. The Hong Kong Government has asked the Kowloon and Godown Company Ltd (which owns Hong Kong Tramways Ltd) to build and operate a 25km light rail network based on the new town of Tuen Mun in the extreme west of the New Territories. A 17 km system would be built initially with an 3 km extension to Yeun Long following later. Construction work on the first stage is due to start next year with completion by 1933.

A joint team which included Scott Wilson Kilpatrick and Partners, London Transport International and the Transport and Road Reseach Laboratory considered a public transport strategy for Tuen Mun based on buses but came down in favour of the light rail system. However, despite this previous British involvement, the consultancy contract for the project has been awarded to Electrowatt of Switzerland Het Cam are leeding a UK consortium also including CEC, Balfour Beatty, Westinghouse and
# 3 Brush which is pursuing the turkey contract for the project. of the contract is estimated to be worth US 70 million.
