BRIEF ON LIGHT RAIL TRANSPORT SYSTEM
SUMMARY
To solve the intense transport problems along the Island Corridor situated on the north side of Hong Kong island proposals for a Light Rail Transport (LRT) System have been put forward by consultants Martin and Vorhees. This system is based on continental rail vehicles operating mainly at ground level. Although these proposals
ave strong support from influential sections of the Covemment they are to be measured against an alterative due to be put forward by the Hass Transit Railway (ITR) Corporation for a fully bored tunnel extension of the newly opened MTR system, On balance British firms have most to gain from the MTR solution.

It would be useful to know more about Hong Kong Goverment's thinking on this matter.
