2) Result of the elections shall be made known by the law court at least
8 days before the first meeting of the Council and in the event of a by-election,
the result shall be made known 15 days after the election.
Article 24
After the last session of the Council during the three-year period,
members of the Council shall remain in office until new members have been
appointed or elected.
Article 25
1) For the sake of public interests, the President of the Republic may dissolve
the Legislative Council on the advice of the Governor and, in the circumstances,
new members will be elected.
2) Full justification for the advice to dissolve the Legislative Council must
be given and should be made known to members of the Legislative Council.
Article 26
1) The decisions made and the resolutions passed at the meetings of the
Legislative Council are not to be interfered with.
2) Eut this does not immune a member of the Council from being prosecuted
against such civil and criminal offences as slandering, making defamatory
statements and insulting others. Under such circumstances, the Legislative Council
may decide whether the member concerned should be suspended from duties.
3) While the Legislative Council is in session, its members cannot be detained

or arrested unless he has committed a very serious crime and has been arrested
on the spot with orders from the law court.

Whenever a member of the Legislative Council is charged with any criminal
or civil offence, it is the duty of the judge concerned to inform the Legislative
Council about this so as to enable the latter to consider whether or not the
member concerned should be suspended from duties.
