Subject: Outcome of the proceedings of the Working Party on IRAN

The discussions took the form of consultation under
Article 224 on the measures to be taken by Member States
pursuant to the decisions adopted by the Foreign Ministers on 22 April 1980.
The aim was to reach joint guidelines which would ensure that, while retaining a national character and without necessarily being identical, the measures to be taken by Member States would nevertheless produce roughly equivalent practical results.
A summary of the outcome of these proceedings is annexed, it being understood that this reflects a broad consensus within
the Working Party as regards the technical arrangements of which a final political appraisal can only be given at Ministerial level
