THE IRAN SANCTIONS ORDERS

I attach copies of the final drafts of the two Orders: one under the Iran (Temporary Powers) Act 1980 and the other under the Import, Export and Customs Fowers (Defence) Act 1939. The drafts reflect the decisions taken by Ministers on 22 May and recorded in the Secretary of State for Trade's minute to the Prime Minister.
2 The Orders are now being printed. It is therefore essential that, if any department has any comments of substance, they should inform us as quickly as possible today.

The Orders are to be made and laid before Parliament on 29 May and will come into effect on Friday 30 May.
