Would you please clarify for me the governments current policy

on the remaining British Colonies. The policy is quite clear on Southern Rhodesia, but I would like to know about Gibraltar, Belize, Hong Kong, The Falkland Islands etc.Ihope and trust that it is not the same as the previous administration, which was to appease the countries who claim these territories. Hay I suggest that the colonies which wish to remain with us are given every support they need. After all, we could stop, or at least cut back,on aid to foreign (not commonwealth) governments and give this money to our Colonies,in addition to their allocation of money.By doing this, we would not have to spend any more money.

I believe that it would be a good idea to have a military/naval base on the Falkland Islands to deter Argentina.Indeed there were reports that the Argentinians have a mission on one of the islands. Please clarify this point. Also I believe it is intolerable that we need permission from Argentina to land aeroplanes on the Falklands airstrip. Surely, money could be found to improve this airfield and the government culd find enough courage to tell the Argentinians that the Islands are a British possession and the people wish to remain that way. These people have been very loyal to us over the years and the least we can do is to show our gratitude.I have a high regard for you sir, after the way which you dressed down the Nigerian Foreign Minister. That was excellent.I have no doubt that you are concerned about our Colonies.I look forward to hearing from you.
