INSPECTION: LENGTH OF TOUR
1.
You will be aware that the Inspectors recommended a reduction in tour length from Standard' to 18 months for all staff serving in Bridgetown and to 12 months for staff serving in St Lucia, St Vincent, Antigua and Grenada.
2.
with
h the agreement of the CSD we are able to accept the recommendations for reduced tour lengths for the four one-man Posts but I am afraid we have been unable to accept the recommendation for Bridgetown where the tour must remain 'Standard'. For staff already serving in St Vincent, St Lucia, Antigua and Grenada the effective reduction in tour length must be made pro rata
an officer
who has served six months (ie one-third) of an 18-month tour earns an entitlement to fare-paid leave journey when he has served a further eight months (ie two-thirds of the 12-month tour. The date of this letter is the effective date for the introduction of the shorter tour. May I leave it to you to inform those concerned?
3.
It may be some consolation to staff in Bridgetown to know that the extra points added to your EDSA/DPA questionnaire total in recognition of the longer 'Standard' tour have lifted you into Group IV, the lowest group, for DPA and you will be receiving some financial compensation in the New Year.
Mr. Gazen.
