A Development Unit was established in the Chief Minister's Office in June 1980. Its priority function to date has been to put in order, to coordinate and give more rapid effect to the indicative plans for 1980/81 and 1981/82 (mainly obvious infrastructure requirements) as agreed in outline by Development Division and other aid donors. The second priority, now being put in hand, is a 3 year sectorial development plan, for rolling over annually. Development is, as a result of this reorganization, much more effectively administered than hitherto.
