Kampuchea.
I promised to let you know the present situation and I am sorry for taking so long to do so but I found that my arrival and departure records were not accurate.
2.
Only SAN SOK is here at the moment. CHIEK SENG and HO NAT departed on 15th April, 1977 and 6th July, 1977 respectively. NO NAT's application for a visa to return here is presently being processed.
3.
SAN SOK has given me a copy of the Ren Fung Co. Ltd.'s audited accounts for the period 19th October, 1976 to 31st March, 1977 which indicate that the compay is acting as a commission agent taking a commission of one per cent on purchases arranged. In the period mentioned purchases amounted to HK$21,221,895 and the commission to HK$212,218 which pays the expenses of this unofficial Mission. SAN SOK told me that he now employs four local people whose names he would give me later. It is clear, however, that the firm is not trading but is merely acting as an intermediary for the purchase of goods for Kampuchea. Although I have agreed to issue a visa to HO NAT I cannot see any real need for additional Kampuchean "employees".
