PA A week ago we issued our second Report on the review of individual grades. I thought I would send you a copy in case the government machine grinds slowly.
On the whole the reaction seems all right so far. But the nurses, even before the report was issued threatened strike action. It is much in the balance at the present time.
Other than this there is either silence indicat- ing acceptance if not contentment or limited but reasonable expressions of objection. But I suppose these are early days.
I have been persuaded to stay on a little longer in this job, until Sir Y.K. Kan gives up the chairmanship ia mid 1980.
And so I am coming to U.K. for a break, in about two weeks' time. I have asked to see one or two relevant organisations - including the new Clegg Commission. Civil Service Branch are making the official arrangements. I have also said I would like to come and see you!
Hope all goes well and I shall look forward to meeting you again in the near future.
