housing units allocated to us by the Housing Authority. The owners would not be allocated to any housing estate if they did not sign on the document.
Actually, the demand for compensation from M T R and the allocation of public housing estates are two matters. But Government used its sup- pression to force us to yield by mixing the two matters.

The Government instigated the tenants not to pay any rent to their land- lords after Nov. 12, 1978 and to claim back all the privilages entitled to theirs from the landlords. It hence created conflicts between landlords and tenants, Government would take this opportunity to get the upper hand of landlords. (Please refer to the second paragraph of Note 3)
Note 7 Press Conference
This is to expose the Government suppression upon the owners of the seven buildings at Sai Lau Kok. Our aims are:
I) to
to expose the "flat-for-flat" swindle;
II) to expose the unreasonably low rate of compensation;
III) to demand Government to set up a special committee to deal with
the case;
IV) to give a swear not to evacuate until reasonable compensation is
obtained.
The purpose of our press conference that day was to clarify to the public the so-called satisfactory solution of the seven buildings at Sai Lau Kok was only a deceptive way of fooling us. After more than one year's nego- tiation with Government, we thought that we could smoothly proceed under the principle of "flat-for-flat" and "Shop-for-shop". But time told us that it was only trick of Government to make fool of us. The so-called "flat-for-flat" was that Government recommended us to buy flats at Allway Gardens. Nothing was further mentioned about "shop-for-shop". The press statement of buying flats at Allway Gardens could have been seen in large newspapers in Hong Kong. But that statement was so
