Note 1 Luk Yeung Sun Chuen
The authority has been repeatedly stressing that owing to the change in the routes of the MTR (Tsuen Wan Section), Sai Lau Kok district is to be included in the area for the construction of the MTR Depot and for fur- ther development. We are most surprised to know this. Where is the original piece of flat land in Kwai Chung which the Government first planned to build the Depot ? Isn't its soil more suitable for the construc- tion of Depot than Kowloon Bay's? Furthermore, before the "Tsuen Wan Star" reported about “Luk Yeung Sun Chuen" we have for many times proposed that Luk Yeung Sun Chuen, which is within the Sa Lau Kok area could be considered in future for the exchange of “flat før flat" and "shop for shop" principle. It is all known that the basic cost of Luk Yeung Sun Chuen (built on the top of the MTR Depot) is only 600 million HK Dollars and a profit of 1600 million has already been fore- seen after completion of the estates. Nevertheless, the Government has tried its best to avoid mentioning this point. We, petty property owners, would very much like to know why.
When the plan of the MTR was first announced, the Government has positively stated that the plan would try its utmost best not to bring any disturbance to the livelihook of the citizens, especially in the aspect of the acquisition of lands and flats. However, in view of all the high-handed pressure and threats imposed upon the property owners of the buildings of Sai Lau Kok, we do wonder whether our so-called 'liberal Government' is only liberal in name!
Note 2 True account of the swindle reflected by the Allway Gardens
Affair
The Allways Garden affair happened between May and June of 1978. The UMELCO Unofficial Councellor, Mr. Yeung Siu-choir Geory, negotiated with the representatives of the "Antidemolition Committee” and asked if the Government were to compensate us with a flat should we be satisfied? With that condition as the principle,, we welcomed his proposal.
Then on 12th August 1978, we received a letter (Ref. No.MT7/63190/002) from Mr. Wilkins, the Commissioner of MTR office, recommending us to buy the A.G. Before getting this letter, some of the land speculators had in- quired about the sale of the fourth phase (i.e. Block K & L) of A.G.,
