Furthermore, the compensatory valuation of our properties is still staying at HK$320.00 per sq. ft.; whereas the market price of flats in buildings around or in adjacent locations is much higher, for instance: Chow Hop Shing Mansion @HK$540.00 per sq. ft.; Tsuen Wan Garden @HK$480.00 per sq. ft. and Allways Garden @HK$410.00 per sq. ft. The loss we have suffered from the difference reached almost 35%. The compensatory valuation of a shop at HK$6.00 per sq. ft. is simply a rediculous nonsense for any shop space in the satellite town of Tsuen Wan in the New Territories worths four times that much.
Within an earlier period, The HKG adopted the methods that con- tained nothing but high-handed pressure, threats and bribery. In the course of measurement of space or surveying for valuation of properties, following orders were given to us:
-
1. Those, already having their flats or shops measured, must evacuate with their possessions not later than May 16, 79, otherwise, the authorities concerned would take prompt and drastic actions. 2. Should property owners not sign the provided documents serving as an agreement, they would be considered giving up their hous- ing rights to the Government Public Estate.
3. Without our consent or agreement, our properties were already listed as the properties of the HKG and set out by force the 12th of November, 1978 as the final date for valuation.
In the proceedings of their measurement of spaces of flats or shops, detectives from C.I.D. and Police Tactical Units were deligated on the spot to scrutinize us as if we were villians or criminals, not only ignoring the sacred human rights proclaimed by the United Nations, but certainly disgracing the good name of Hong Kong.
Recently, much more oppressive and shameful steps were even taken against us and they are as follows:
1. Having ordering the Water Works Department not to supply us
salt water in the flushing of our lavatories.
2. Having ordering the Inland Revenue Department or other De- partments concerned to cease issueing of licences that we applied for.
