Thank you for sending me a copy of your letter of
25 February to the "Hong Kong Standard" about the arrest of boat dwellers from the Yaumatei typhoon shelter.
You were of course quite right in pointing out that the reply which I gave to Lord Brockway on 12 February was, in part, inaccurate. What I should have said was not that no charges were made against the 10 juveniles but that no evidence was offered against them in Court.
Lord Brockway raised this point again in the House of Lords on 7 March, and I took the opportunity to correct the mistake. I enclose a copy of the Hansard report of the debate on that occasion: you will find my comments on the charging of the children in column 281.
