Dear Mr. Bridge,
As I have already mentioned to you over the phone, I have forwarded your letter of January 2, 1979, together with my letter to you of December 12, 1978, to the Foreign Office in Bonn suggesting a reconsideration of the problem of visa requirements for visitors of the Federal Republic of Germany holding Hong Kong British Passports.
I have now been informed by the Foreign Office that the competent German authorities do not find themselves in
a position to change the existing legislative and admini- strative regulations governing the entry of holders of Hong Kong British Passports into the Federal Republic of Germany.
I sincerely regret being unable to give you a more favourable reply.
