persons from Vietnam who have been refused permission
to land in Hong Kong. Clause 2 of the Bill would
remove the 2 month limitation on immigration officers'
powers in the case of such persons.
The amendment would cease to have effect at
the end of December 1979 unless the Legislative Council
extends the life of the provision by means of a
resolution.
The Bill has no staffing or financial
implications.
