CHINESE PASSPORT HOLDERS WITHOUT ONWARD VISAS

For the record you may like to see the enclosed list showing the circumstances of the 560 travellers from China who were refused permission to land at Lowu in November and were accepted back by the Chinese. Please note that in some cases the reason was suspected falsification of US visa approval letters. These cases only occur on weekends or US holidays when a check with the US Consulate-General is not possible. Generally the experience of Immigration officials at the border is sufficient and there are very few cases which subsequently turn out to be genuine. There has never been any trouble with such doubtful cases because the Chinese are well aware of our usual practice of checking with the Americans and that final confirmation can be obtained during a week day.
