all of whom except 8 were recent entrants to Macau from
China. No arrest has been made in September so far (up
to the 20th).

the high level of legal and illegal immigration from China
will result in an estimated increase of 400,000 over this
projection.

Statistics on the age, sex and employment of legal
and illegal immigrants from China are given in a paper at
Annex B which was prepared in early July with data drawn
from samples taken in the first five months of the year.
It is unlikely that the patterns revealed in the
statistics have altered substantially over the past few
months.
