(c) Accommodation for Vietnamese Refugees

The Attorney General informed the Council

that it was intended to activate section 67

of the Emergency Regulations Ordinance in

order formally to requisition the factory

at Tuen Mun to be used to accommodate

Vietnamese refugees. He said that the

rent originally agreed with the owner

would be paid in compensation and explained

why it was advisable to requisition the

property.

(d) Vote of Thanks

The Governor noted that the Attorney

General was attending the Council for the

last time. He said that Mr. Hobley had

rendered service of immense value to the

Council and indeed to Hong Kong and that

he would be greatly missed both as legal

adviser and personally. Sir Y.K. Kan said

on behalf of his Unofficial colleagues

that he wished to associate himself

fully with the Governor's words.

The meeting concluded at 12.25 p.m.
