In Commonwealth countries citizenship transmitted only
second to first generation. No provision for transmission tojand
subsequent generations.

territory acquire citizenship, but only those descended from
a father or paternal grandfather born in the UK have right of
abode in the UK. This can be regarded as automatic trans-
mission of UK-belonger status to the second generation but no
further.
3. In foreign countries citizenship is automatically
transmitted to first generation. Citizenship can be trans-
mitted to second and subsequent generations by consular
registration of child's birth within one year, therefore only
with the Secretary of State's permission.
