Citizen by birth in a dependency shall, if it is born
outside that dependency, be a British Overseas Citizen
by descent.
d) The child of a British Overseas Citizen who does not '
hold that status by virtue of birth in a then existing
dependency shall not acquire British Overseas Citizen-
ship save in the following circumstances:-
(i) that the Secretary of State having been
satisfied that it was born in a country which has
not ratified the Convention on Statelessness, has
been stateless from birth, and having subsequently
become ordinarily resident in a dependency or the
United Kingdom for a period of 3 years before
reaching the age of majority it shall be entitled
to be registered as a British Overseas Citizen.
(ii) that if it is the mother who is a British
Overseas Citizen and the Secretary of State is
satisfied that the child is stateless and has been
so from birth it shall be entitled to be registered
as a British Overseas Citizen.
e) The Secretary of State shall have power to register
any minor child as a British Overseas Citizen; and in
a dependency the Governor shall have power to register
any minor child whose father is a British Overseas
Citizen.
f) The Secretary of State shall have power to naturalise
