Nationality Law: Crown Servants

HKK 340

8

1. I understand special provision is to be made in the New! nationality laws to cover children of members of HM Diplomatic Service, but I am not clear how far this is to be extended to others.

2. Will, for example, the new laws draw a distinction between Crown Servants in the employ of the UK Government and those in the employ of dependent Territory Governments - which could be considered as applying to Governors as well as to members of HMOCS and other expatriate judicial and administrative officials, some of whom are still formally appointed by the Secretary of State.

3. Most of these would be most concerned if their children were only allowed to be Overseas Citizens with right of entry to a dependency always assuming that the citizenship laws of the dependency concerned were based on ius soli and not ius sanguinis!
