THAILAND
- 13-
UNHCR reports that, in addition to the thousands of Kampucheans who arrived in Thailand in October, 3,482 refugees, mainly Laotians, as well as 193 Boat People from Vietnam came to this country during the same period. At the end of October the same organisation indicates 164,239 Indochinese refugees in Thailand, not counting the Kampucheans. During the month of October over 9,000 refugees from Thailand were settled abroad.
Situation
In view of the recent developments of the Kampuchean refugee sit- uation in Thailand, which is absorbing most of the potential of the Thai Red Cross, the South East Asia Refugee Task Force (League/ICRC) decided to trans- fer to the ICRC/UNICEF action for Kampuchean refugees the financing of the programme presently underway in Thailand. Therefore, the budget for the Thai Red Cross action of SFr. 6,385,000 presented in the S.E.A. appeal of 12 Sep- tember 1979 has temporarily been frozen as of 31st October 1979.
Situation reports concerning the ongoing relief operation for the Kampuchean refugees are released by ICRC/UNICEF.
