Rhodesia
16. Mr. Ioan Evans asked the Lord Privy Seal what representations Her Majesty's Government have received from the United Nations Organisation, the Commonwealth Secretarial and national Governments regarding recognition of the new regime in Zimbabwe-Rhodesia.
Sir Ian Gilmour: At the constitutional conference at Lancaster House, Her Majesty's Government are working for a settlement which will enable us to bring Rhodesia to legal independence amid wide international recognition. We are in con- stant contact with representatives of these bodies over the progress of the con- ference.
