My comments on the dict scales in the camps under the st vision of Government are as follows :-

The diet scales vary according to the age of the refugees and are considered generally adequate at present as the refugees are expected to be transferred to other more permanent and open camps after a period of 1 to 3 months after which they will be able to obtain employment of the general population.)

While the diet scales are considered satisfactory generally, these depend also on the individual condition of the person. There may be special cases where a general diet may be insufficient and the medical personnel within the camps are expected to recommend special diets for such - individuals.

Due to the circumstances of the refugees, the general standard of health and resistance to disease is expected to be lower than the local population, in particular, the generally lower resistance to disease among children of a tender age giving rise to pneumonia as a result of measles or by itself. However, our intensified immunisation programme and other health measures such as health education and the introduction of health screening of children under 5 years of age together with the provision of primary health care by voluntary agencies as well as the Government, the cverall health statistics has shown marked improvements in September.

It must also be remembered that the primary health care facilities in the camps are backed up by the whole system of Government hospital services so that cases needing hospital care are admitted and treated without delay.

Thus, the health measures taken so far have proved to be correct and effective. The situation will continue to be monitored.
Environmental. Sanitation

In regard to environmental sanitation, beyond saying that environmental hygiene and sanitation should be maintained as best as the situation allows, I shall not comment on this subject as this is within the purview of the USD and that authority has no doubt reported on it.
