Born 1934. American citizen. Educated Calvin College, Grand Rapids, Michigan and Georgetown University, Washington DC (MA and PhD in international relations and related subjects). Fulbright Scholar, Free University, Amsterdam. Joined the US Senate Judiciary Sub- Committee on Refugees as Staff Consultant in 1961; 1968-77 Staff Director of the Sub-Committee and Counsel to its Chairman, Senator Edward Kennedy; 1977-78 Counsel to Senator Kennedy and to the
Sub-Committee.
Married with three children, he is a dynamic operator and a good
friend of our Geneva Mission. His special interest is in Vietnamese
refugees, but he tends to be over optimistic about Vietnam's
intentions. If Senator Kennedy's fortunes wax, he is likely to return to the Washington political scene.
