Dear Lord Carrington,
རྒྱུ་ཡ
I have been in discussion.
in my constituency with some of my constituents who are very interested in our commitment to take into this country more Indochinese refugees from Hong Kong.
The following questions were put to me and I shall be most grateful if you can let me know the answers as quickly as possible.
1.
2.
3.
Approximately how many of the refugees of working age in open camps are in gainful employment in Hong Kong. Also percentage figure if known ?
How many have so far been selected for entry into Britain and what is their country of origin (North or South Vietnam)?
What percentage of refugees in all Hong Kong camps are ethnic South Vietnamese ?
4. What is the total of refugees in Hong Kong camps
at mid-September 1979 ?
5.
What are the 1978 figures of legal immigrants into Hong Kong from mainland China ?
6.
What are the 1979 figures to date of legal immigrants from mainland China ?
7.
How many of refugees presently in Hong Kong started their journey from what used to be North Vietnam ?
again
I shall be meeting my constituents/towards the end of the month and it will be most helpful if you can possibly let me have the answers by 25th September.
Yours sincerely,
And Moris
