REGISTRY Action Taken
Dear Mrs. Thatcher,
I am appealing to you, on behalf of my husband and myself, to be given permission to make contact with the Hong Kong Authorities and offer a home to an orphaned Vietnamese Boat child with us.
We have contacted the Ockendon Venture, and various other organisations, but have been informed that the Vietnamese being admitted into Britain on our quota system are in family units.
With the help of friends in Hong Kong and possibly relatives who work for British Airways, I feel sure it would not be too difficult finding such a child and bringing it over here, but envisage there might be great difficulty getting permission for it to enter the country.
Rather than being passed on from one Government Department to another, causing long delays, I am writing to you direct.
We are appauled about the plight of these people, and in the name of Humanity we are hoping you will give our request a positive reply.

Yours very sincerely,
