IV. HEALTH
For the DHSS Mr Gang repeated his request that voluntary organisations should let his Department know as early as possible of the number of refugees going to a particular reception centre in order that sufficient time was allowed for liaison with Family Practitioner committees and Area Health Authorities. The Chairman told the meeting that this information was already contained in a letter that had been sent to voluntary organisations.
V.
EMPLOYMENT
None of the voluntary organisations had to date encountered any problems in liaison with the MSC. The Chairman asked that if, in future, any should arise, these should be taken up with the Home Office who would liaise with the Department of Employment.
VI. SOCIAL SERVICES
For the Ockenden Venture, Mr Denton explained to the meeting that there would appear to be little extra work at resettlement stage for Social Services Departments of local authorities. It appeared that, to date, no problems on
this issue had emerged.
In reply to a question from Mr Lee (BCAR), Mr Alexander (AMA) said that his organisation would liaise with housing associations about their co-operation in providing accommodation for refugee resettlement.
