HONG KONG, 28th June, 1979.
Dear Dr. Wieson,
With reference to your letter of 11th May, 1979, I am pleased to tell you that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina has informed me that in a letter addressed to the Secretary General of the Un United Nations, President Videla has expressed that the Argentine Government has decided to accept a total of 300 refugee families from Southeast Asia.
This decision has been taken to co-operate with other countries in reaching a solution to this grave and pressing problem of the refugee situation in this area.
Considering the family structure of the area involved, this measure will benefit more than one thou- sand people.
Finally, through the same letter, the Argen- tine Givernment announces that as from 1980, it will double its contribution to the United Nations High Commission for Refugees.
