Many thanks indeed for letting me know your thinking about the tragic problems involved in the Vietnam refugee situation, with its particular impact on Hong Kong.
As you may have seen, I was with Margaret Thatcher and Peter Carrington in Tokyo last week where we did our bit to secure international recognition of the importance of this problem. Peter Carrington went on to Hong Kong to discuss the situation from their point of view and I will see that he has an opportunity of considering what you have to say in your letter about this, based on your experience of life out there.
You may have seen that our own constituency at least has had an opportunity of providing a temporary home for some of these people in Nutfield.
I shall let you know of the reaction to your thinking.
