Mr Murray

CONFERENCE OF INDO CHINA REFUGEES, GENEVA 20/21 JULY

MDCK

1. We were discussing on the telephone the next steps involved in sending the UK Delegation to Geneva for this Conference.

2. We agreed that we in Conference Section will now get down to the administrative planning for the Delegation while you would be composing a submission on the composition of the Delegation that will go to No 10 for approval. This will go through our Private Office and in the usual way contain an explanation of the reasons for the inclusion of those listed in your minutes of 4 and 5 July.

3. As regards your question about a charter aircraft for the party, the rules only permit this if the Secretary of State decides to attend. While his attendance remains uncertain, we are booking seats on. suitable scheduled flights for a party led by Mr Blaker. We are also asking Geneva to make bookings at the Beau Rivage Hotel for Mr Blaker, his Private Secretary and yourself and reservations at the Epsom 'Hotel for the rest of the party. This assumes that if the Secretary of State attends he will stay with Sir James Murray If he does not attend Mr Blaker would be able to stay at the Residence.
