My dear Prime Minishi,
I have been concerned to receive an increasing number of letters protesting against the Government's decision to admit Viet-Namese refugees into this country. I realise the special circumstances of this problem, but in areas where there is already a high concentration of immigrants it does cause additional ill- feelings. I am constantly reminded by my constituents of the Party's promise to control immigration strictly and I do most earnestly hope, therefore, that we shall not admit any more Viet-Namese and issue a statement to this effect. I am, of course, telling constituents of your efforts to get the problem solved on an international basis.
This is the only cloud on the horizon in the constituency. The budget was extremely well received.
I am sending copies of this to Peter Carrington and Willie Whitelaw.
wis sianly,
Ли
