Dear Michael:
I am enclosing the text of a telegram received today from Washington regarding a proposed review by the (Congressional) General Accounting Office of refugee resettlement programs in selected countries, including the United Kingdom. You will note that GAO representatives plan to contact your Embassy in Washington and there will be an opportunity for you to elicit further details on what they would like to do in this country. They have suggested September 4, 1979 as the date they would like to begin field work here. This letter is just be way of advance warning.
I am also enclosing for your information a report of the Argentine Government's willingness to receive 300 refugee families from Southeast Asia. I thought you might be interested in light of your conversation with George Warren last week.
With best personal regards.
Enclosures: a/s.
Sincerely,
Joh
