As you will know, iler Majesty's Government have recently been taking a very active interest in the problem of Vietnamese refugees and,
in particular, the associated problem which has been caused for
Hong Kong by the influx of so many people.
I understand that the Federal Republic of Germany have already agreed to accept 440 of these refugees from Hong Kong and I should
like to place on record my Government's appreciation of this level of
assistance. It is only by countries like Germany accepting the refugees
for re-settlement that we can hope to alleviate the suffering endured
by these people.
