· RESETTLEMENT OF INDOCHINESE DISPLACED PERSONS

1. The Government of Japan will make efforts to realize resettlement

in Japan of not only Vietnamese but also other Indochinese displaced persons. Target figure for the time being is

500 persons.

2. Within the scope of the above 500 persons, the Government will

permit the entry into Japan for resettlement of those Indochinese displaced persons who are temporarily staying in Southeast Asian countries and who fall under any one of the following categories:-

(1) The spouse, parent or child of a Japanese; or the spouse, parent or child of an Alien who resides lawfully in Japan

and is recognized as leading a stable livelihood.

(2) One who has once been employed by a Japanese diplomatic..

mission or enterprise abroad for a period of one year or

more.

Or one who has lawfully resided in Japan for one year or

more as a student or trainee etc., who has a sure guarantor

and who is to take up a job which promises a stable life;

as well as that person's spouse, parent or child.

3. Entry into Japan of the above-mentioned Indochinese displaced

persons (hereinafter referred to as "applicant" ) may be sought

for in accortance with the following procedures.

(1) Normal visa-application procedure is utilized.
