Appendix 6 to Annex C

COPY OF A LETTER DELIVE FED TO THE HUEY FONG ON 17TH JANUARY

The Representatives choard

the "Huey Fong"

I have been asked by the Governor of Hong Kong to reply

to your letter of 16th January.

I am well aware of the difficulties which you face and of the reasons you say have led you to leave Vietnam and to trust to the high seas on board a freighter bound for Taiwan.

The Master of the "Suey Fong" was told when he was one thousand miles from Hong Kong (and nearer other ports if urgent medical attention or supplies vore needed) that he should not come here. We have already given you food supplies, water, warm clothes and medical assistance, while repeating to you and the Master on many occasions that you should go to your first port of call. This may have misled you. It is there fore necessary to tell you that you cannot expect to be further reprovisioned. You should now proceed to Kachsiung.
