The UNHCR wish to make it clear that the displaced persons from Vietnam on board the Huey Fong are of concern to the UNHCR.
The UNHCR will assist them to re-settle in third countries wherever they are allowed to disembark. This assurance would apply to those landed in Taiwan.
Although the UNHCR do not themselves have an office in Taiwan, they would give all possible assistance, material and otherwise, to displaced persons landing there by operating through third parties as they have done in the past.
