HIS Wasperton and thrce Police Cawiches stood by the ship.
At 1530 hours the Master and a refugee errocontative were taken on board HS Wasperton (see Appendix 1 for a report of this meeting).
5,500 blankets and dry rations for 2,700 people for three days were loaded on board a tug.
4 doctors, 26 AMS personnel, and a PTU platoon were put on board the Huey Fong by Police launch.
Two stretcher cases were evacuated by Police launch to Aberdeen and thence to Princess Margaret Hospital.
A decision was teken to supply food and water as soon as possible after first light on 24th December.
Cable and Wireless were asked to monitor and report on any communications to or from the ship.
24th December, 1978
(a) Bad weather conditions prevented the planned operation
to provide supplies and water by sea during the morning. During the afternoon the blankets end rations were lifted off the tug and onto the ship by Wessex helicopter.

During the afternoon 150 tons of water were pumped from a water-boat into the ship's tanks.
The PTU platoon which had been on board overnight were relieved by a fresh platoon. This operation was carried out by Wessex.
The medical personnel who had been on board overnight were taken off the ship and a replacement team of one doctor and 6 AMS personnel was put on board HMS Wasperton.
3 more patients were airlifted to hospital.
