Amend the Births and Deaths Registration Ordinance.
Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent
of the Legislative Council thereof.
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Births and Deaths Registra- Short title. tion (Amendment) Ordinance 1979.
2. Section 13 of the principal Ordinance is amended-
Amendment of section 13.
(a) in subsection (1) by deleting "In" and substituting the following- (Cap. 174.)
"Subject to subsection (3A), in”; and
(b) by inserting after subsection (3) the following subsection—
"(3A) No alteration or addition to the name or names of a child, in any register book of births, shall be made under this section after the child has attained the age of 11 years.".
Explanatory Memorandum
The purpose of this Bill is to amend section 13 of the Births and Deaths Registration Ordinance (which provides for the addition to or alteration of a child's name) by preventing such addition or alteration in a register book under the Ordinance after a child has attained the age of eleven years.
This Bill has no financial or staffing implications.
