An Ordinance to amend the Registration of Persons Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Registration of Persons Short title. (Amendment) (No. 2) Ordinance 1979.

2. The principal Ordinance is amended by adding, after section 1. Addition of the following section-

"Interpretation.

1A. In this Ordinance, unless the context otherwise requires

"family" means persons living in Hong Kong of 11 years of age and over and under 18 years who are related to or dependent on the head of a family;

"head of a family" means-

(a) a person who is in loco parentis to any other person living in Hong Kong of 11 years or over and under 18 years; and

(b) any person having lawful custody or control of.

or over, any such other person;

"identity card" means an identity card issued under this

section 1A. (Cap. 177.)

Ordinance.".

Section 3 of the principal Ordinance is amended-

(a) in subsection (1) by deleting "who enters Hong Kong and"; and

(b) by inserting after subsection (1) the following subsection--

4.

"(1A) Notwithstanding subsection (1) and subject to any exemption which may be granted under this Ordinance, the head of a family shall apply for the registration under this Ordinance of every member of his family who is not the holder of an identity card.”.

Amendment of section 3.

Section 4 of the principal Ordinance is repealed and replaced by Repeal and the following-

**Admissibility

of copies of records.

4. A document purporting to be a copy of the records or part of the records kept by the Commissioner of Registra- tion and purporting to be certified as a true copy thereof by the officer having custody of the records shall be

replacement of section 4.
