An Ordinance to amend the Law Amendment and Reform (Consolidation)
Ordinance.
[22nd June, 1979]
Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and con- sent of the Legislative Council thereof.
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Law Amendment and Short title. Reform (Consolidation) (Amendment) Ordinance 1979.

The principal Ordinance is amended by adding, after section 27. Addition of the following-
"Effect of agreement with two
or more
jointly.

c. 20, s. 81.]
28. (1) An agreement in writing, whether under seal or not, made with two or more jointly, to pay money or to make a conveyance, or to do any other act, to them or for their benefit, shall be deemed to include, and shall, by virtue of this section, imply, an obligation to do the act to, or for the benefit of, the survivor or survivors of them, and to, or for the benefit of, any other person to whom the right to sue on the agreement devolves, and shall be construed as being also made with each of them.
(2) This section applies only if and so far as a con- trary intention is not expressed in the agreement, and has effect subject to the agreement and to the provisions therein contained.
(3) This section applies only to an agreement made or implied after the commencement of this section.".
