practicable following the signing of the Air Services Agreement. services will initially at any rate go via Hong Kong. There is no problem in getting such a routing out of the Chinese though they are likely to be difficult about BA picking up and setting down traffic in Hong Kong that is destined for or is returning from the PRC. BA obviously would like this facility but the full extent of it is not vital to the service.

There have over recent years been a very limited number of charter flights by CAAC, the Chinese airline, to UK and by UK airlines to the PRC. Application for approval for these has to be made through diplomatic channels on a case by case basis. This is likely to continue.
