If this Agreement is concluded does this mean

that scheduled services between Peking and London

can start immediately?

Yes, just as soon as the formalities of designation

of airlines and acceptance thereof have been gone

through and the airlines have made their practical

arrangements.

What about charter services?

The PRC Authorities have for some time been

prepared to consider applications for individual

charter flights to and from the PRC and there has

been full reciprocity.

Why has the UK lagmed behind other countries in

establishing scheduled services to the PRC?

A draft Air Services Agreement with the PRC was

initialled in Peking in 1975 but certain difficulties

arose which prevented it being ratified.

Has British Airways felt this as a serious

inhibition?

ANSWER

Not really. They are however quite keen now to start

a scheduled service provided this can be arranged und

satisfactory conditions.
